BUSINESS

The Great Escape Festival

This festival holds such an important part in my life. In 2008 I met one of my now best friends Dan here, who funnily enough introduced me to my now boyfriend that same year. I had the privilege of working for the festival in 2009 while I was at university, where I met another of my now best buddies Emma who was also doing a placement here (for the same university but we had never met before). It was pretty much this placement that spurred me on to do what I do today and have a love for promoting shows. I have been going to this festival since 2008 and I couldn’t imagine missing it. I have made such good friends from this festival including bands, promoters, writers, photographers and bloggers, some of these through the amazing Alcopop! showcases. It was here I met Our Lost Infantry who ended up playing my first ever show, and many more after. Last year I had the opportunity to host a stage for the day with my pal Ryan, it was just amazing and so overwhelming to see so many people there for our show. It was terrifying to organise and I was convinced something awful would go wrong, but we made it, we made it through, and it was awesome. We are back this year with so many amazing bands and it’s so great to have all the support that we do from everyone we work with.

I sometimes wonder what I’d be doing now if I had never attended this festival back in 2008.

New lineup announcement! Welcome to Noyo Mathis, Luke Godwin, Tyrannosaurus Dead, Katie Malco, Poles Apart, Bad Grammar AND a really special surprise: Ric from Tall Ships doing a solo set for you all!

Also you may have heard Rolo Tomassi have pulled all their planned shows due to an injury in the band; unfortunately this applies to our show too. Sorry everyone, we’re gutted too. HOWEVER we’re stoked to tell you one of our favourite ever bands Wot Gorilla? will be coming back again this year to headline the matinee! Bad news good news. Good good good news.

Furthermore, times to come very shortly.

All the best.

So, after a brief excursion into Metalcore hilarity for April Fools, here’s a taster of what we’re really working on for our next EP ‘Interregnum’, due out later this year.

Thanks to Ollie at Death of The Blogger for recording us live at St Saviour’s Church, Guildford.
